The latest Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum was held last month at Ding Ding TV studios. During the forum, numerous industry experts came together to discuss various key topics. Those included new trends in e-commerce, the potential applications of AI and ChatGPT for companies and ventures, emerging trends in renewable energy, and how the US-China decoupling might impact the supply chain. Great Way Trading and Transportation, the Silicon Valley Alumni Association of the University of Science and Technology of China, and the Kemin Foundation organized the event.

Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Sharing Conference (Ke Min Platform) was founded to commemorate the spirit of Dr. Ke Min, who passed away from a heart attack when he was 43. The Entrepreneurship Forum is a platform for entrepreneurs at all stages of their journey from budding startups to seasoned industry veterans. By providing a space for knowledge exchange and networking, the Forum addresses hot topics in the business world and gives entrepreneurs critical tools and inspiration. This year, 2023, also marks the 30th anniversary of Great Way’s founding.

The event started with a message by Mr. Fu Wei (Dr. Ke Min's older brother). Peter Gong (Founder, Great Way Trading and Transportation) spoke about US-China decoupling and the importance of trade. Peter Gong reflected on the company's trading and transportation endeavors over the last three decades. Mr. Gong shared many of the company's notable "firsts" from the first employee to his first customer.

The company's history converged with several notable contemporary events and mirrored the growth of US-China trade and commerce in the face of both financial crisis and economical boon over the years. It is a testament to the evolving relationship between the US and China that is, at the moment, transitioning from competition to decoupling.

Diane Wang (Founder, Chairperson, and CEO, DHGate Group) has over 30 years of experience in the digital industry. Ms. Wang shared her insights on the new trends in e-commerce, the transformational impact Gen Z had on social commerce, and which industries bore the impact. With changing global trends, Ms. Wang recognized the need for decentralization. That is why DHGate introduced MyyShop, a one-stop social commerce platform for e-commerce businesses.

Scott Burton (Senior VP, US and Europe Operations, Crystal-Optech) talked about his China experience where he touched on topics like restricted market access for non-Chinese companies and government support in building factories in China. Dr. Stanley Wang (TalkDesk) talked about the potential of ChatGPT for ventures and companies. Kevin Fenn (Founder, Chairperson, OSell Group) spoke about new models in e-commerce and shared case studies outlining the potential of gaming and e-commerce. Mr. Fenn talked about the S2B2C model (supplier-to-business-to-consumer).

Yi Xu (Co-Founder of two startups) talked about AI and its evolution. Mr. Xu discussed the importance of Foundation Models in building Artificial General Intelligence. Michael Xiong (Managing Director, Vital Materials, Founder, BacX) spoke about his company that expanded via M&A and has production facilities in 17 countries. Xiao-feng Li (Chief Architect, System Software, MTK) discussed the topic of operating systems in the time of AI. He posited the new generation OS must contain an AI stack.

Dr. Bo Li (CEO, Founder, EndurEnergy Systems) talked about Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS). He stressed the importance of energy storage in supporting other technological innovations. Ron Cai (Senior Counsel, Zhong Lun Law Firm) shared his insights about the Inflation Reduction Act and its tax incentives for domestic manufacturing. Dr. Yawei Liu (Director, The Carter Center's China Program) delivered an analysis of the relationship between the US and China over the past century. He spoke about the ongoing trade war and emphasized the urgent need for collaboration on issues like climate change and how it has affected the ecosystem.

Amidst the ongoing US-China decoupling and polarizing media headlines about China, the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Forum provided a platform for business leaders and entrepreneurs to come together, frankly discuss challenges they are facing, and exchange knowledge and potential solutions. Likewise, it enabled the attendees to gather as a community and create new connections among their peers.
